Waterfalls
Head to the many of the local waterfalls by walking or riding horses. Eat lunch in the cool shade before taking a plunge in the “pozo” (fresh-water swimming hole) at the Cuervito River. Jump off rocks or fallen logs and relax in perfect surroundings listening to the natural jungle music. Gold has been even been found in the local rivers. So ask Enrique or Freddy to take you on an adventure to cool off on a hot day!
Birdwatching
The sounds of the jungle serenade you at all times, and if you keep your eyes up, you will frequently see parrots, hummingbirds, and toucans, along with hundreds of other exotic aves. One bird-loving traveler who stayed with us spotted over 200 species at and around the Finca during his vacation! Check out his pictures below.
Tours with Enrique
Any adventure you might dream of, Enrique can help. Ride horses on the beach or through the jungle. Hike to one of the hidden waterfalls. Milk cows on his farm. Drive ATVs up to the local Guaymi Indian Reservation for a picnic with a view. If you visit at the right time of year, you can even help a nest of baby turtles into the ocean. Talk to him once you arrive for all this and more.
Water Sports with Shawn
If you doubt your ability to surf, then look no further than Shawn Donahue. He is a gifted instructor that will have every guest standing on a board after just 60 minutes of instruction. You’ll never feel so accomplished as when you catch that first wave. He also offers lessons in standup paddle boarding and kite boarding. Afterward, rehydrate with fresh coconut water on the beach!
Fruit Truck
Have you ever had fresh fruits and veggies regularly delivered to your door? You will at the Finca! Pineapples, mangos, papayas, onions, avocados, tomatoes, and plenty more. Try some unique items you can’t get at home! Cooking with fresh local foods is one of the best parts of being on the Finca. From truck to table every Thursday morning, at prices lower than any grocery store.
Massages with Beti
No massage playlist needed. Beti will come right to your rental house with her table, towels, and oils, and give you a wonderfully relaxing massage – all while you listen to the sounds of the water, the jungle, the birds, and the wind. This mobile spa experience is unbeatable. So nice you’ll want to book her twice!
Hair & Nails with Grace
Your housekeeper Grace is also Pavones’ go-to woman for the best hair and nails in town. She will come right to your rental house, or you can book an appointment at the salon in back of her home. You deserve some tropical pampering! So embrace the sun-kissed look and go blonde, or ask her to paint some brilliantly colored hibiscus flowers or peacock feathers on your fingers and toes.
Local Eateries
Eating in Pavones feels like a family affair no matter where you go. These small local eateries are run by multi-generational families that have lived in Pavones for years. No shirt or shoes? No problem. Come with your sandy feet, sip on a piña colada, and indulge in the freshest Tico cuisine in all of Costa Rica. And don’t be surprised if there’s some impromptu karaoke!
Yoga
We can provide yoga mats to use on your covered terrace while you’re serenaded by the jungle, or you can venture into Pavones, which hosts multiple free and affordable weekly yoga classes, often taught by world-class instructors partaking in extended education residencies. Peace and tranquility are just a few breaths away!
Remote Work
We understand that in this digital age, WiFi is an important consideration when traveling to remote areas. You’ll be happily surprised that the Finca’s WiFi might even be better than your setup at home! You’ll have no problem taking those Zoom calls or completing your work before Beti arrives for your afternoon massage on the terrace.
